Dislocation
July 5, 2017 to August 26, 2017
In geology, a dislocation is a disruption of the perfect order of a crystalline structure. When two dislocations meet under the right circumstances, the errors cancel each other out in a precisely perfect interaction of forces.
This series of sculpture explores the interaction of forces through a highly physical, material-based process of shaping a mixture of glass and molten wax with ice. Guided by the body, these materials collide in perfect and unique balance. As the molten mixture freezes, the ice melts away, preserving the memory of movement and process as creative form.
