Statement

Rachel McKenna is a process-driven artist, material-inspired scientist, and hard-hitting semi-professional football player. In her work, Rachel draws on her experience as an athlete and to explore the relationship between an empowered physicality and the creative process. This series of sculpture utilizes that physicality, making sculptures through a highly physical, material-science based process of manipulating molten wax and glass with ice, focusing on the collision of forces, action/reaction, and an intense engagement of the body with method and material.
