Nao Osada is a Tokyo based artist whose practice employs printmaking, photography, video and found material to create sculptural and installation based work.
Tenuous relations between image and object, perception and experience, representation and its source, are explored by transferring or layering these notions to complicate tendencies of strict classification. With a poetic connection to materials of the everyday, Osada’s work highlights spaces between binary understandings of the things and experiences which we encounter daily.
Osada received an M.F.A in Oil Painting from Tokyo University of the Arts, and participated in the University of Applied Arts Vienna Exchange Program in Vienna, Austria. She has exhibited widely in Tokyo, most recently at a 2018 solo exhibition at Open Letter Gallery.
