Over time I have acquired a way of working as an artist, which leads to the transformation of my subject matter from reality to a place where it no longer resembles, but instead suggests the original subject. This happens through a process of re-ordering, reduction, and exaggeration as I work.
I borrow from both the natural world and the built world, having discovered that many of the interests and concerns I search for are found in both. Economy of structure, interdependent systems, distinctive rhythms and patterns are a few of the aspects that interest me. Creating a balance from those opposing influences is part of my process.
