Tina Beebe

Statement

Fascination with color has driven the educational and professional life of Tina Beebe. An art major at Smith College, she went on to receive an MFA from Yale. There she studied color theory with Joseph Albers and his disciples. In college she met architects Charles Moore and Bill Turnbull and worked with them at The Sea Ranch in the late 1960’s through the 70’s and 80‘s.

When Moore moved to southern California from New Haven in 1976, Tina came west to work with him and her future husband, architect Buzz Yudell. She has been an integral part of the architectural firm Moore Ruble Yudell since it’s inception in 1978. As resident colorist, she has worked on projects throughout the U.S., across Europe, and east Asia.

In the late 70’s Tina also worked in the Office of Charles and Ray Eames, focusing on exhibitions, films and graphics. Beebe formed a deep and lasting bond with Ray, and learned so very much from her unique sensitivities and painterly eye.
