Statement
Victoria Haven’s current show of works on paper and cut metal wall sculpture explores the dynamic relationship between the conscious act and the intuitive process. In each of these rigorous drawings, the central linear form has been deliberately interrupted by an act of splitting, carving out, overlapping, or reflecting. The resulting works reveal multiple states at once – the act of “splitting” is an attempt to reveal a single moment in the constantly oscillating relationship between intention and creation.
