For this show, Adkins continues his interest in presenting familiar sights, texts and objects in a wry, tongue-in-cheek manner. Influenced by the Conceptual and Minimal art of the 1970s, Adkins imbues the vernacular with a sense of whimsy and allure, lending an off-kilter aura to the objects we most often perceive as banal. The work expands and lives in the perceptions, thoughts and conversations of the audience. This exhibition will include large-scale sculptures and text-based works in both neon and vinyl.
