Using wood-grain Con-tact brand shelf paper, together with 1” and 1 1/2” pin-back buttons, Gretchen Bennett creates “Hi, It’s Me (Box)”, using the three walls of the PDX window space to reference interior, exterior; the hybrid nature we look for in sidewalk cracks and HomeDepot; a modular landscape far from the tree.
Gretchen Bennett received her MFA from Rutgers and studied in Prague as a Fulbright Grant recipient. She was a 2004 Artist Trust Fellowship recipient and recently had her first solo show at Howard House in Seattle.
