Two time winner of The National Endowment Artist Award, and the prestigious Rome Prize Fellowship in Painting , Nationally known Tennessee painter Nick Blosser presents his 6th solo show in Portland. Blosser's style is very American, akin to the works of Milton Avery, Marsden Hartley and Arthur Dove. Blosser quietly observes nature, picking out pattern and form to make a composition that can be intimate, odd and familiar at the same time.
I enjoy working with outdoor imagery because there is always something familiar and distant in it. We see it and do things in the landscape everyday and it becomes expected. As a painter I want to figure out a way of looking at landscape that is unexpected without seeking out the exotic.
