Allynn Carpenter is an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. He received his undergraduate degree from The Evergreen State College and his MFA at The Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2018. His work consists of intimate self-portraits collaged from photography, gouache, and colored pencil. Tension accumulates at the seams between the idealized, imaginary, and real body, while gendered boundaries fall away. These pieces are an accumulation of moments of inspection, questioning the relationship between corporeality, desire, and an ever-shifting sense of self.
