Statement

"The physical aspect and my own inexperience at making a large drawing, in this case a 7 x 8 ½ foot grid proved to be a valuable distraction.

Since the large grid was drawn on paper tacked directly to a wall, I found myself being so focused on keeping the 4 foot metal straightedge tight to the drawing surface with one hand and one knee, that the quality of the grid lines remained relatively unintentional and in turn, visually compelling. It was as if I was busy doing something else as the drawing was being made.

In my experience of making any kind of art, inexperience is rarely a bad thing. So, it is safe to say that I am naturally concerned about getting better at it."
