In conjunction with Pulliam Gallery, PDX will present new works by Cynthia Lahti and paintings by Portland-based artist Seth Tane. Tane paints from his experience on and around ships, as well as urban, industrial and scenic landscapes that capture the dramatic contrast, bright colors and towering scale of the subjects, even in small paintings. Five of the images in this exhibit come from a series of paintings of ships anchored near the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette rivers that Tane can see from his studio.
Cynthia Lahti will exhibit three new sculptures. Known for her expressive, gestural sculptures and drawings, Lahti’s imagery is evocative of emotional and elemental states of mind. Her work will be included in the Bellevue Art Museum’s 2010 Biennial, August 28, 2010 - January 16, 2011.
