Richard Wilson has exhibited extensively throughout California and PDX is proud to announce his first Portland exhibition.
As a painter Richard Wilson is affected by space, light, color, proportion, and cadence. He is inspired by strong memories of his grandparent’s flower farm, the climate color of the coastline and by the evocative qualities of music, particularly the rhythms of jazz. Each of Wilson's paintings is intuitively related to a particular piece of music by a jazz musician he greatly admires. Wilson seeks an equilibrium between what he sees as the "human nature" and "landscape nature" using rectilinear/architectural form combined with time, light, color, and atmospheric effects.
