Brad Cloepfil's "Drawing | Making" will include studies of potential and realized buildings. This exhibition of drawings is a kind of retrospective as well as a celebration of Allied Works Architecture projects of the last decade. The drawings illustrate the firms working method; a generative process demonstrating cycles of thought and modeling. The "Drawing | Making" show will focus on the drawings of Brad Cloepfil, with the aid of other media.

Brad Cloepfil received his Bachelors degree in architecture from the University of Oregon and went on to earn his Masters of Architecture at Columbia University. After his studies, he worked in New York, Los Angeles and Switzerland for ten years before establishing Allied Works Architecture in Portland, Oregon in 1994. Since its inception, Allied Works has been awarded commissions throughout the United States. Brad is frequently invited to lecture, teach, participate in symposia, and serve on competition juries. His drawings have been exhibited nationally and internationally, and are listed among the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

The projects of Allied Works have received significant recognition, beginning with the Maryhill Overlook located on the banks of the Columbia River and the Wieden + Kennedy Headquarters in Portland, Oregon. In recent years, Allied Works Architecture has been involved in a diverse mix of projects, which include museums, notable residences, and a performing and visual arts school. Among its commissions, this exhibit will feature the drawings of the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the Seattle Art Museum, the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the Museum of Arts & Design in New York, and the Wieden + Kennedy Building, plus a number of projects that are currently in design.

Brad Cloepfil's first gallery project was the original PDX Contemporary Art gallery in its former location on NW 12th Avenue in Portland. Mr. Cloepfil's firm Allied Works Architecture also designed the current space for PDX Contemporary Art at 925 NW Flanders the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon, where this exhibition is being held.

The drawings in this show will not be for sale.
