Vanessa Renwick presents “Hope and Prey” (2010), a three-channel video of animals hunting and being hunted by each other, a slow build toward oblivion that summons the awesome grandeur and the intensity of the wild. Score mixed live by Daniel Menche, Portland’s infamous underground composer. And a segment from “The Land Piranhas,” a work-in-progress, feature-length new western‹land use and immigration all seen through the prism of the reintroduction of gray wolves into the modern. Cinematography by Bob Landis and Vanessa Renwick.
8:45 pm
Deke Weaver presents WOLF, part live performance, part cinematic documentation of a larger performance in central Illinois in 2013. WOLF is the third performance in Weaver¹s lifelong project, The Unreliable Bestiary featuring a performance for each letter of the alphabet, each letter represented by an endangered animal or habitat. WOLF is part wild, vivid dream, part sci-fi origin myth and part environmental education. WOLF is written, performed and co-directed by Weaver, and co-directed and choreographed by Jennifer Allen.
