PDX CONTEMPORARY ART AND OREGON COLLEGE OF ART AND CRAFT (OCAC) invite you to a conversation with artist Marie Watt about her experience making and installing a three-story tall interior sculpture for the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. The sculpture is composed of 314 reclaimed blankets collected from the community and assembled into one totem-like column, which intermingles diverse narratives including American, Pakistani, Native American, Islamic among many others.
Marie, as a former OCAC Artist in Residence, lecturer, visiting artist and instructor, embodies the ethos of OCAC: materials knowledge, superbly executed ideas, and a focus on community narratives.
