Bean Finneran: Spectra
January 25 - March 16, 2014
Curated by Jennifer Gately
Ceramic artist Bean Finneran is internationally known for vibrant sculptures and installations composed of thousands of simple elemental forms initially inspired by the marshlands surrounding her Greenbrae studio. While Finneran’s stacks, rings, and cones--each made from hand-rolled clay curves--spring from the repetition of form found in nature, they are always surprisingly new. In addition to her signature curve sculptures, this exhibition features the public debut of a unique, large wall installation composed of common masonry bricks, each hand glazed in electric hues.
Bean Finneran’s sculpture has been included in exhibitions worldwide and can be found in the collections of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, San Jose Museum of Art, and Mills College among others.
