Glover holds a M.F.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.F.A. from California College of the Arts. She is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell MFA Award in Painting and Sculpture, the Phelan/Murphy/Cadogen Fellowship in Fine Arts, was a Graduate Fellow at Headlands Center for the Arts, and Artist in Residence at Santa Fe Art Institute, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Glover has twice been published in New American Paintings.
Recent exhibitions include University of Washington, Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, Andrea Schwartz Gallery (San Francisco, CA), CUE Foundation (New York, NY), Headlands Center For the Arts (Sausalito, CA), Berkeley Art Museum (Berkeley, CA), Santa Fe Art Institute (Santa Fe, NM), University of Michigan Ann-Arbor (Ann-Arbor, MI) and University of Washington (Seattle, WA).
My work deals with the specter of memories, specifically having do to with my early childhood in a high demand religious group and boarding school in India.
My education in India was peculiar and difficult. But one of the things I learned how to do in boarding school was how to knit. And it helped me feel grounded and centered as I navigated my life away from home.
To this day I am a prolific knitter. For this window installation I have created several small works, titled Effektgarn, which depict knitted samplers, each with a unique hue shift palette and arranged in a quilt or afghan-like grid on the wall.
For me, the ‘knitted sampler’ is an object of both personal desire and optimism. It has become an emotional talisman, signifying a practice that has kept me comforted throughout my life.
