Meadow is Ellen George’s current show of polymer clay sculptures; unique compositions of organic forms displaying a sensitive and playful treatment of light and rhythm.
Ellen George is a native of Galveston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. A grant from Artist Trust, Seattle, Washington funded her recent installation at the IFCC in Portland. She received the Juror's Award at the Tacoma Art Museum 2001 Biennial for her installation: Translation. Her work is also in the Public Collections of King County Public Art’s Portable Works Collection, Seattle, WA; Museum of East Texas, Lufkin, Texas; and Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, Washington.
"My work draws inspiration from light, sound, and silence. The biomorphic elements are hand-formed in polymer, and unique. They seem to spring forth from a world all their own, bringing to mind variations in nature."
