Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts was founded by James Lavadour (Walla Walla) in 1992 on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Its mission is to provide a creative conduit for educational, social, and economic opportunities for Native Americans through artistic development. Since 2001 it has run Crow’s Shadow Press, a fine-art print publishing venture that primarily serves contemporary Native American artists from across the United States.
