Marie Watt: Invitation to National Gallery of Canada Contemporary Conversations

Please join U.S. Ambassador Bruce Heyman and Vicki Heyman, in partnership with the National Gallery of Canada and the Art in Embassies program, for the premiere lecture of the Contemporary Conversations series.

The first of a series of four public and moderated discussions will feature Marie Watt, a multimedia American artist of Seneca descent.

Marie and the Gallery’s Audain Curator of Indigenous Art, Greg Hill, will explore Marie’s work with human stories and rituals implicit in everyday objects, such as blankets, and their power and influence on community, culture and history.

They will also discuss Marie’s work Skywalker/Skyscraper (Babel), which is currently exhibited at the US Ambassador’s residence.
Date: Thursday 26 February 2015
Time: Lecture* at 6 pm, followed by a reception
